It can be done, but a reinstall may be smarter anyway. I'm not aware of
any RPM-based distro that will upgrade as reliably and smoothly as
Debian (I've had issues with Debian upgrades too, but rarely when just
using stock packages).

I guess it depends a lot on what you're using the box for and how
heavily you've customised it.
