I would be keen to check out some of the screen shots you grab...

Also, can you run both GNOME and KDE on Ubuntu? I run Hoary and love
GNOME, but if there's no extra work in putting Kubuntu on the system
then I'd be tempted to give it a whirl. Failing that, there's the live
CDs.
