Sorry, should have posted that I fixed it. Basically, when I ran
ldconfig as a non root user, it worked, but didn't save the data in
the cache. So the cache was out of date, hence the files weren't
found. I had to run it as root (sudo) so that the cache (/etc/ld.cache
i think) was updated.
