Aside from not seeing the source (which should be available on the project's
site or in the tarball), what's the real security difference between a
.package and a tarball or non-repository rpm/deb? No one really whinges much
about outside rpms and debs (I'm sure they're about to though!). My concern
isn't from people voicing their worries, it's quite healthy really, adds to
features and todo list, etc., my concern is people's instant dismissal. The
fact that you are voicing your concerns I like and is the kind of discussion
I was hoping to bring about. The difference is that you're not merely giving
autopackage the brush off. :)

Well said. :) I don't want to incriminate the package management, it
provides the base! It's like having fuel without a car, to use a poor
analogy! ;)
