At least with running Linux on Apple hardware (PPC):

Hardware is (more or less) standard.
There have been PPC linux distros for ages and ages; both Debian and
Ubuntu support it. (for you apt-addicts)
Linus Torvalds runs linux on PPC - so should you :-P
