possibly the ISP may be blocking these ports, i know that iinet have a habit
of firewalling smtp, www, and so forth. give your isp a call and confirm
this, iinet have firewall blocking option in their members toolkit.

Subject: [plug] debian problem

Hi, I have been using Fedora for a couple of your and
I switch to debian.

I was able to install debian remotely. I have to
offer on a server apache and postfix. I was able to
set them up.

My problem, I cannot get them working on the internet.

I used nmap xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (which is my server), the
results says that it is filtered.

I verified it through iptables -L, there are no rules,
all chains will be accepted. Ipchains is not
supported by the kernel. There are also no rules on
the hosts.allow and hosts.deny.

What could I be missing?

Thank you very much.

Al
