[plug] [OT] Changing logic boards on failed seagate drives?

I did it several times with different drives with some success, since I
did not know if the controller was dead or the drive itself. A couple
of time it worked, recently on several 2.5". There was a bad batch of
IBM drives in Dell laptops and I also fed my laptop with cereal and
milk one morning. I was lucky to have the same drive to borrow the
controller to get the data off it. I am not sure of what you mean by
exact same controller. I don't know if mine had the same firmware on
them, but definitely the same controller type for the same drive.
