At the risk of answering your question before you ask it [0] Using
ndiswrapper and the windows driver I've been able to use with a D-Link
AirPlus G DWL-G630 with ubuntu.  Followed the instructions on the
ndiswrapper site and it just worked, though I would strongly have
preferred to get a native driver.
