Hi all
Being pressed for time this week, I am simply being (slightly) lazy and
also looking for a quick fix that I know will work.
In short: How do I alter a default GRUB config so that it boots Windows
XP by default. It is currently the last option listed and must be
manually selected at startup (if you catch it in time).
The background info: I have a laptop which was running XP. I recently
resized its C: drive and created a partition for Linux. I installed
Ubuntu just to try it out and see if I could swap this machine over
(which of course I intend to do soon). The primary use of this PC is to
play music in my house so it is slotted into a bookcase most of the time
and not the easiest PC to work on despite being a laptop because I have
to dig it out. I do most of my current work via Remote Desktop, logging
in to change volume and music selection. Until I find time to setup
Linux the way I want it, it will continue to run Windows XP most of the
time because everything works currently and like it or not, that will be
how it stays until I am ready. The problem is that after every update
or extended power failure, I have to pull the laptop out and choose
Windows because Ubuntu made itself the default OS.
Which is great, but just not yet...
If someone can give me the sure fire way to reboot to Linux, make the
change and put the PC down again that would save me a lot of messing about.
Cheers,
