The multi-head Radeons have a Xinerama-like mode (MergedFB) which treats 
multiple screens as a single surface on multiple displays at the 
hardware level. This means you get full-blast performance at a slight 
cost in control (only a few of ht eknobs and ials from Xinerama are 
available).

Picking the right Radeon for solid Linux support at any point in time is 
not so simple.
