Right. Now I know that's a feature not a bug.

What is strange about the question? Is it the fact that I've got my
SuSE into a state where there are heaps of duplicate packages install?

I was attempting to upgrade from 9.3 to 10.0 using the "smart" package
manager, which seems to have quiet happily installed the new packages
along side the old ones - a surprise to me.

I discovered this when afterwards I ran "apt-get update" which was
_smart_ enough to complain about the situation.

Your fix seems to have worked as now when I run "apt-get update" it
does not complain of duplicate packages.

Thanks for you help.

Rennie
