[plug] how do I remove certain packages

I want to remove the older version of mysql-server form my system, if I do a #apt-get remove mysql-common apt-get want to remove the following:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  libapache-mod-auth-mysql libapache2-mod-auth-mysql libdbd-mysql-perl
  libmysqlclient10 libmysqlclient12 libmysqlclient14 mysql-client mysql-common
  php4-mysql phpmyadmin postfix-mysql

The problem is I need libapache2-mod-auth-mysql, libmysqlclient14, php4-mysql and postfix-mysql.
