Hey! I was heading there! Glory thief! :D

Vague things to check (from my badly failing memory):

1) root exists in smbpasswd
2) Administrator-> root map exists in smbusers
3) WinXP machines have registry fix (not sure if this is necessary any more)
4) If youve viewed any public shares on the server, reboot before attempting
to add the machine to the domain.
5) obviously smb.conf should be sane. Maybe posting it here would help.
