Firstly I would consider what membership actually means in regard to
P.L.U.G. and the services/activities available to members.
Is it about the money ? or is it about the members ?
P.L.U.G. has many activities where there is a standing open invitation
to friends and visitors. So why charge extra amounts for families.
What would be the voting weight of that family at meetings ?
OK - then we consider some other things like email addresses and accounts
on servers - one account for each family member or one account for the
whole family ??
How many people in the family 2 - 5 - 10 ???
Fee structure - I would suggest that the family membership be based on
the number of people in the family :
The First member of the family would be the cardholder and pay one full
membership - then all subsequent members of the same family pay one
concession membership each.
I would suggest that the membership card be marked as a "Family" and also
show the number of members of that family.
eg :
Tux (Family - 5)
2 family members :
cardholder ($10) + one extra family member ($5)
total membership fees = $15
4 family members :
cardholder ($10) + three extra family members ($5)
total membership fees = $25
10 family members :
cardholder ($10) + nine extra family members ($5)
total membership fees = $55
Note : the last example seems excessive - so perhaps we could set a
maximum amount to be paid for a family - $30
Concessional membership :
In the event that all members of the family are entitled to a
concessional membership - I would suggest that the cardholder fee be
reduced to $5 and perhaps we could set a maximum amount to be paid for a
concession family at $20.
