2.4.27 here, and it does have the force capability. I was looking in 'man modprobe', because I usually remove modules with 'modprobe -r'. And wouldn't you know it, the in the 'SEE ALSO' section of the modprobe man-page, there's no reference to rmmod. I guess you learn something new everyday.
