*zsh-fan chimes in* Although, I've found Rox-FIler to be a great graphical file-manager. Very light-weight, fantastic image-preview support, can be used via keyboard, or mouse. Doesn't have a tree-style browser, but multiple windows do the trick for me, as you can drag between them. I use it for all my wallpaper/photo management.
