[plug] ip address and interface question (new)

This going to seem a dumb question compared to the previous but I was
curious so here goes:

I know there is a file to marry ip addresses and hostnames (in both
directions)

ie 127.0.0.1 MyName

&

    MyName 127.0.0.1

My question is, if you are receiving your address from dhcp, is it
possible to get it so you can ping
the hostname:

ie $> ping MyName

and return like the below from Windblows:

Pinging MyName [192.168.0.4] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.168.0.4: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
