[plug] mandriva

I am running xp and want to install Mandriva on the same hard drive.
I cant get it to install, even on text mode it comes up with this 
message.in smoding module Sata-sil failed at /usr/lib/bibDrake 
x/modules, pm line 340

It is sitting on the drive but I cant access it.
I have previously installed linux when I had 98 with no trouble but this 
has stumped me.
Please can anyone help. I have tried a couple of disks (free from a mag) 
and they all stall.
