A quick google search would suggest that this error may be caused by 
some other hardware apart from the hard disk controller ( eg. network card )

What error made you come to the conclusion that it was the hard disk 
controller which was causing you troubles in the first place ?  To me 
the above message includes reference to the agp front end.

In trouble shooting such problems, I would start by removing all cards 
from the system and start adding them back in one by one.

Try using a knoppix boot CD and check to see how everything looks ( ie - 
does it all boot OK )
