Hi

I've just successfully installed an MFC-425CN on my home network. It's
the first time I've been able to print from linux.
<dislocates arm patting self on back>
Really was not that hard, actually.

The Brother website http://solutions.brother.com/linux/en_us/index.html
is quite helpful, and was almost sufficient. It says I should use the
driver for the MFC-210C as they are still working on the 425CN driver.
It works, but it seems to me that there was mention of this printer
recently on the list, and that the 425CN driver is available. I cannot
find it though.

I had to locate it on my network by pinging. Fortunately it was the
first one I tried (192.168.1.2). By referring to the settings
automatically generated when I installed the Windows ME software I was
able to come up with the URI lpd://192.168.1.2/lpr which works.

Is there a way to display all the hosts on a LAN? I hope there is a
better way of addressing the printer since my system uses DHCP for
address allocation. So far the modem has been very consistent in
assigning addresses, but something might cause a change...

TIA
Jim
