No. quad xeon box.

I'm not chasing > 4Gb per process just to make the full 8Gb available. I'm
pretty sure this is doable, but i've never tried. (CONFIG_HIGHMEM?)

Chris - 1G limit may be being imposed by shell limits. If you are using bash
try ulimit -a and see if anything pops out at you.
