[plug] Fluid damage to Laptop

Ouch, that made me wince.

I've had no experience with this kind of thing, which leads to my answer...
I've had my Compaq Presario B3800 (moderately priced laptop) for a good two
years now. I eat and drink next to it all the time and haven't managed to
get anything on it. Saying that, I wouldn't let anyone else eat or drink
around it... I trust myself but no other... And I guess, if you're a messy
eater, then you probably shouldn't be next to a laptop anyway...

And lastly, what do pluggers think of people eating and drinking around
their computers, especially laptops where the risk is more than just a
$10 replacement keyboard?

All suggestions, personal experiences and especially technical facts
would be appreciated.  I'd really like to save this one, though the
temptation is to hit the button now and see what happens...!
