gentle stream of water in sink or from a hose (definitely NO pressure!)
followed by distilled water and a soft brush (long haired paint brush
works well) by a thorough drying (place in front of a fan radiator - not
too close though!)

Avoid meth based solvents (or be careful where you apply it)

Its usually the sugar in tea/coffee/soft drinks/wine thats the major
cause of corrosion/short circuits (attracts moisture and is highly
corrosive when damp) - wash it out when fresh and you will find it much
easier.
