Grub reads ext3 as ext2 (when within grubs shell, and I think there is
an ext2 nmessage on boot as well).  e.g., Gentoo boots using ext2 for
the /boot patition, but I created the drive as ext3 (and its ext3 in
fstab).  Never had a problem when mounting it ext3.
