I'd not be surprised if one or more of those WAN accelerators actually
was implemented in Linux.
Thing is, its not an easy task to do. There's multiple different "things"
you end up having to do to "get WAN acceleration" which can be highly
protocol dependant. Its a big task.
(And if you want it for free, then well, tough luck. You should see what
_I_ get asked to give for free with Squid related hackery.)
