[plug] shorewall and ppp over bluetooth

I am converting some of my systems to use shorewall and have run into a
problem.  I have a ppp over bluetooth connection for a PDA that is only
present when the PDA is connected (its being nat'ted onto the local
network, not routed).  So shorewall errors off when ppp isnt up.  Once
shorewall is running I can stop/start ppp without a problem, but if I
reboot the system, or restart shorewall I have to dig out the PDA.  Is
there a way around this?
