Hello Fred, 

I know that your request is Ubuntu specific, but I think you will find many 
useful and valuable articles and tutorials at the IBM web site.

The following URL is just one example,

At the bottom of the page there are links to other related topics/areas.

If what you seek is not covered on the above page - you can use the 
'search' box at the top right hand side of the page - IBM has a very 
powerful and comprehensive search facility :

e.g. typing in the string 'Linux command line' will return over 10,000 
hits.

Some tutorials will require you to register - but it is worthwhile doing so 
as the tutorials are well written, comprehensive in scope and generally 
easy to follow.

Most of the content at IBM is not distro specific, but it some cases it 
can't be helped - but the reader is advised where a tutorial or article is 
distro specific.
