Alex, would it be any use to you to try converting all of your files to PDF
format - if so :

Download PDFCreater from sourceforge - :

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator

If you can print it in Windows - then using PDFCreater - you can convert it
to PDF format.

1 This utility installs in Windows as a printer driver
2 You should get a PDFCreater icon on your desktop
3 Make PDFCreater the default printer
4 Drag a "group" of the files you want converted to the PDFCreater icon
5 Point PDFCreater at a directory where you want to save the files
6 Click 'Save' for each file you want converted.

Your original files will remain untouched, so you can archive them.
You will have PDF copies of all your files which you can access as usual in
Linux.

It may not be the ideal solution, but if you don't mind the files in PDF
format - it could get part of the way there.

HTH
