Dammit I hate this ... but WTF,
Please explain how you equate Debian's package management to Red Hat's
RPMs. (I was trying to find equivalents, but it was like comparing the
manufacture of chamber pots to the mechanisms for removing the offending
vessel from the royal bed-chamber). They are different things for
goodness sake.
Debian uses *.deb packages - Red Hat and others use *.rpm packages.
Neither is "easier" or "harder" to install with the right tools - if you
are talking about "synaptic" being easier than "yum", you might well be
right, but their are MANY package managers that accommodate RPM
packages, including Smart, Synaptic (see above), Yast and others.
I appreciate that you have your own ideas, please formulate them so that
you are comparing Intels with Intels (or even AMDs).
I s'pose I'm getting overwrought for no real good reason, but I hate to
see the foggy thinking that allows one to write about Debian's package
management and compare it to a rival's package. NOT THE SAME THING.
Again - it's Sunday night, and I've had a long day of wine and
cavorting ....

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.
