Thanks for your reply.  The proxy I am using does appear to be working -
it just fails the configuration step when setting up the packages. 


For example, here is what happens if I try to install something else (in
this case the vice emulator program):

These fonts were provided by Microsoft "in the interest of cross-
platform compatibility".  This is no longer the case, but they are
still available from third parties.
