[plug] Ubuntu firefox

I've got Kubuntu running on my desktop, but have noticed something odd..

In firefox (distro included) if I look at my home directory it ONLY 
displays the hidden files/folders. This means about 60. Also, there is no
entry to View->HiddenFiles either..
On my EeePC, no such issue.. Of course this is running Xandros, not 
K/ubuntu.. But then I don't have that many files in the directory either..
 Has anyone else noticed this?
