Hi Guys,
I have an old Linux box laying around that I want to try and put to
good use as a bit of a router for my ADSL in my office. My company
have a VPN that connects us to the server in Germany for access to the
intranet, file servers, etc. etc.
However, at the moment when I connect to that VPN I can not use
anything else (Using OSX with built in VPN software) as the DNS times
out trying to route through Germany. Unfortunately, as far as I can
tell, there is no way to tell OS X to use the VPN *only* for certain
web addresses and let all else use the normal gateway setup.
So what I want to do is have the linux box (that I also want to use as
a wiki/cal server and stick some files on there) route this VPN
traffic for me. I would like to have the Linux box either create the
connection on demand or keep it alive permanently for the web
addresses that need to connect through it. Basically I want the linux
box to route all *.mobotix.net and etc. through to the VPN and ensure
that all other data is router through the DSL connection as per
normal. This will allow me to use the VPN and the internet at the
same time, making my life about 3.000 times easier!
IF anyone can point me in the direction of a good
tutorial/walk-through/etc. for this, I would be greatly appreciative.
I have not settled on an OS yet, but preferably something easy to
maintain and update.
Cheers
Chris
