CityFarm recently reorganised their collection of
electronic appliances to be handed in at the nearby
e-Waste session a weekend from now.
Some stuff was a little too useful to simply chuck away
so I collected a little of of & convinced the managers
to give it away at their coming markets this weekend:
http://www.cityfarmperth.org.au/new_lite/markets.html
This includes dozens of UTP (Ethernet) cables, some phone
cables, a dial-up modem, a video card (AGP) with a noisy
fan, a (PCI) software modem card, analog video cables, a
small jumper-box thingy for VGA-type video, a twin RCA
connector lead, a wireless ADSL router "Wireless G," a
PS/2-plug keyboard, several PS/2 mice, some speakers (just
the speaker, no case, no electronics), a couple of PSUs,
a joystick (15-pin-D plug), IDE hard drives (8, 8, 20GB),
serial 9-25-pin-D cables, parallel 25-pin-D-to-36-pin-par
cables... & a complete PC (CPU box, hard drive, RAM,
17" CRT screen, Ethernet). Plus other stuff (with extra
things).
First in, best dressed.
The idea is to find this gear a new home, rather than just
grabbing it & binning it.
Some fo the stuff in the markets will be quite remarkable,
such as biodynamic beef sausages which are 70% actual beef
(whereas the usual snagger might be 45%) plus organic rice
flour etc for texture, shape etc. They also typically have
candles, perfumes, oils, dairy products, etc.
To get there? Take a train (Free Transit Zone from city)
to Claisebrook Station, or a Yellow CAT to the end of its
run. Or drive to City Farm Place, East Perth, near Royal
Street (Health Department, OfficeWorks etc).
Cheers; Leon
