Hi

In response to to Gregs Email. I joined after the emails were sent so
I can't reply directly. Saw them in the archive.

I use vnc4server on Ubuntu for resumable sessions.

on 8.04 I had to recompile gnome-settings-daemon it crashes because of
the keyboard (lack of). it is fixed in 9.04. I can't remember what the
change was but i still have the amd64 version if you want it.

drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 2008-11-13 08:44 gnome-settings-daemon-2.22.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 500538 2008-11-13 08:46
gnome-settings-daemon_2.22.1-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 11046 2008-05-06 17:06
gnome-settings-daemon_2.22.1-0ubuntu2.diff.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1092 2008-05-06 17:06
gnome-settings-daemon_2.22.1-0ubuntu2.dsc
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1918600 2008-04-07 22:05
gnome-settings-daemon_2.22.1.orig.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 9590 2008-11-13 08:46
gnome-settings-daemon-dev_2.22.1-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb

in my xstartup I have
gnome-session &
gnome-settings-daemon &
vnc4config -nowin &

I installed ubuntu-desktop (aptitude install ubuntu-desktop) as I was
using the server version - only way I know to get RAID 5 during
install.
disabled gdm
the all i do is log in as the user and execute:
vnc4server -geometry 1600x980
Fits nicely on my 1680x1050 screen

Seemed to be very stable and never crashed.
