front end to Mandrake two years ago:

More secure - do a port scan on the winbox and hand over the results
Faster - on a normal modem (same unit) approximately 1k per second
faster data transfer when the windows box is in normal use (office etc)
- also subject to data pauses due to poor multitasking that plays havoc
with throughput because of resends (small modem internal buffer)
Handling of mail, icq etc can be easily set up (never could get
connection sharing to do this, ended up with wingate)
Control - logging and access control is easier.
