Do you have "avahi" running? (its a service)
and in

moriah ~ # ls -al /etc/avahi/services/
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 200 Feb 3 14:19 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 176 Feb 3 14:19 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 988 Aug 24 2011 AirPrint-Epson-RAW.service
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 978 Aug 24 2011 AirPrint-Epson.service
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1075 Feb 3 14:19 sftp-ssh.service
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1071 Feb 3 14:19 ssh.service
moriah ~ #

avahi provides the bonjour interface for apple zero config. I think in
the past there was an actual bonjour package but thats gone from gentoo
these days.

moriah ~ # esearch avahi
