Can you print to a file, look at the file to see what it is, and then print it. Alternatively try to configure a generic ps printer as ps ver 2, and see if that gives different results.

There is a bug reported against Firefox 3 which generated Postscript 3
directly and caused this issues too.
Apparently CUPS has a filter that converts PostScript 3 to 2 when the printer
does not support 3. I guessed the first step was to let CUPS know that the
printer only supported level 2, so I modified the ppd file as you say.
As the results are the same now I am wondering if the level 3 to level 2 CUPS
filter is the culprit of the "yellow glow".
