[plug] weird touchpad behaviour

Hi folks,
This is an observation rather than a question needing help. Wondering if
anyone else has seen this:
Using my dell lappie with mint14 xfce I see some weird behaviour from my
touchpad after running the system over several days with multiple
'suspend to ram' breaks in activity. I don't know if it's coincidence of
timing for a hardware fault to have developed, but it didn't happen with
mint12 that I ran up until a month ago, so therefore I suspect a
driver/software issue.
Specifically, the pointer becomes erratic, but not constantly erratic,
just enough to seriously irritate. When pointing at a page link or
activation button on web pages or an app dialogue the pointer will
rapidly jump to another spot (up to 50mm away) on lifting of my finger
to tap a left mouse button click. Sometimes the irritation is compounded
by the pointer ending up on some other unwanted link just as my finger
taps down on the touchpad. Grrr. This sure sounds like a driver issue to
me, since a full reboot solves the problem until the long-running
'suspend to ram' cycle is repeated again.
In the meantime, I'll continue playing with settings like touchpad
sensitivity and turning off 'disable while typing' and so on. And no, my
other fingers aren't hovering over the touchpad in other places when
this thing happens! Frustrating, but small in the scheme of things.
Gavin
