[plug] Help me, I've gone blank

Hi guys,

My age or my decrepitude is catching up with me.

For the LIFE of me, I cannot remember a command.

You'd be able to plug something into the computer, enter this command
and it'd show you all manner of kernel messages and other interesting
info ....

It wasn't a tail of /var/log/messages

Please help an absentminded twit.
