  ... thinking back, it was better to save/import the mails as a folder of 
single files rather than a huge file, the occasional email is strangely 
formatted or has text that can mess up the big single file format.

And, I'd appreciate any advice re the cleanest way to set up a very simple, 
personal imap server on a local (debian) machine. No need anything fancy, but 
also no need for anything except basic text file and/or command line configuration.
