I know that there are some radio amateurs among us here and I've spoken to
several (not yet amateur) geeks who were interested to find out more about
this.

I'm one of the organisers of a symposium - ostensibly for Radio Amateurs -
that has a list of interesting keynote speakers talking about their field
of expertise:

   - Phil Harman (the grandfather of SDR) - talks about Critically Coupled
   Antennas
   - David Rowe (the inventor of CODEC2 - FreeDV) - talks about his open
   source adventures
   - Phil Wait (the president of the Wireless Institute of Australia) talks
   about the WIA

There will also be presentations about:

   - Allstar link networking - raspberry pi-style
   - DMR in Perth
   - Satellite communications
   - Mentoring in Amateur Radio
   - Running a Club

There will be ample time for participants to mingle with each other and the
presenters. The day will be your chance to mix socially with some
interesting people who are also Radio Amateurs.

Tickets are $20 and include morning and afternoon tea. Lunch is available
at the Hotel restaurant at your own cost. The restaurant caters for bar
snacks to full meals.
