[plug] solved - Re: sbs ondemand

What a saga trying to overcome sbs' tyranny to watch content that my
taxes pay for! Recapping and the story through to conclusion:

1/ with the introduction of the need to logon to watch ondemand I was
shut out of watching any ondemand content. The rub was that I could not
register even if I wanted because in firefox and chromium the signup
popup had unresponsive links to everything that it offered, such as
create new account or sign in with google.
2/ on the advice of responders, and in line with my own thinking, I
disabled adblock on the sbs domain and allowed popups and all cookies in
both firefox and chrome. This did not change the behaviour.
3/ In desperation I tried Opera and had a glimpse of success in that the
signup was responsive and I actually managed to create an account (I
thought), albeit the dialogue was not rendering properly and text boxes
and buttons were mashed up and I had to use the keyboard rather than the
mouse to activate buttons that were "hidden".
4/ Once signed in with Opera the page continued to be poorly rendered
such that no links were active and the text looked like shite - in other
words, I was signed in but had no where to go!
5/ bouyed by this glimpse of success I tried konqueror and was able to
see the dialogues rendered correctly and links active. Trouble was for
some reason the new account I thought I had set up was deemed to have
the wrong password. So, I tried logging in with google (something I hate
doing), but the connection between google and sbs just timed out
everytime I tried. This was actually quite lucky because sbs want to
know your birthdate, location and name of your first born to be able to
log in. I spurn social media for this very sort of reason. After that
experience, I just went with the flow and used the password reset
dialogue, which was working, so I asked for a reset sent to my email.
6/ reset password, logged in using konqueror. Ooops, must be
non-compatible flash because none of the movies would play. Damn, so
close to success. Try something else -
7/ tried simple, old, unassuming epiphany. Eureka! Pages rendered
correctly, login worked ... and movies played, but only if I disabled ad
blocking.

What a crock. I have heard people are experiencing service outage with
their smart tvs as well because of this move by sbs, but that's another
story.

Regards,

Gavin.
