Sorry for the late reply.

Proprietary software gives its copyright holders unjust power over its
users, who should have the freedom to control their own computing.

Computer programs are mathematics, logic, and knowledge, and knowledge
should be free.

I recommend the essay "Why software should be free", it was written in
1991 but still explains well the necessity of user freedom:
