So basically you want 1TB of remotely accessible disk somewhere in
Australia.
I'm interested in this so I did a little bit of research. By no means
comprehensive, just trying to get a ballpark.
- Digital Ocean VPS in Sydney. 1TB is going to cost about $100/month.
- Hostaway dedicated machine in Wangarra. 1RU colo $130/mo.
I asked an LLM to do research and it found:
- BinaryLane, who do a "storage" VPS for $22.50/month with 1TB storage.

Storage" tab).
- Network Storage:

$20/month with 1TB.
Thinking outside the box:
- CloudFlare R2 bucket. $15.83/month but you can't guarantee it's in
Australia (and if that's not a constraint, there are even cheaper options).
- Find a local friend/business/university who will let you put a machine
on their network. Set up wireguard so you can access it remotely. Use rsync.
This last option is going to be the cheapest I think, particularly if
you do the same for them. Though it's more work obviously and you need
physical hardware. You could do the first sync at home so most of the
data is sync'ed over already to minimise network traffic.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Chris.
