Sorry I haven't responded to this email sooner... Please let me explain
why.<br>

On the day you sent your email, I was as yet unborn. A few hours later
(approx 3pm GMT, April 1st 1980) and I took my first breathes, but
unfortunately did not yet have Internet access (or the ability to
type). I spent the next few years learning to walk, talk and feed
myself before moving to Australia at the age of 11. In England where I
was born, I only had access to the schools crappy BBC Acorn computers,
but once in Australia, I met my cousin who was really into computing.
I followed his lead and got my first home PC. A few years later I had
an Internet connection, my first email address (actually a Hotmail
account) and later still began PC-PHIX. Prior to this I had basically
had no exposure to Linux or Imation products anyway, so I still
couldn't have helped. A few years later I registered my own domain
name and it was not until 2005 that I actually then subscribed this
email address.<br>

For some reason, I did not actually get your email until today, but now
that I finally have, may I post a reply (of sorts) and offer the
following links as a place to start (assuming you haven't fixed the

The content of these pages is similar as it seems to have been posted
written by the same person who has found there to be a lack of software
support and written his own driver. If he has fixed the problem he is
trying to solve in these posts, he may be willing to share the
answers. Also there is more discussion of the problem he encountered
on the third of the links above, so you may wish to skip straight to
that one.<br>

Almost every site that I've checked so far seems to suggest that there
is no actual Linux support, so the DIY job seems to be the only
answer. Alternatively, you could contact Imation directly and see if
they have any suggestions or success stories:

answer so far is that although you may be able to get a USB connection
to the device, the database and other software do not exist until
someone writes them. If I come across any other useful information I

PS - Please excuse my lame humour with this reply. I could have
resisted if it weren't for that fact that your email came time and
date-stamped with my exact birthday...<br>

In all seriousness, I am actually a fan of these devices from a little
while ago. They are a great idea in theory, but I cannot see a way to
get them going under Linux without the OpdiTracker software being
available for that OS. If you <i>do</i> get it working, I would love
to hear about it...<br>
