I've had an absolute gutful of trying to get consistency in the sound system.<br><br>The sound is on the motherboard, ICH4 845G/GL Chipset AC'97 Audio Controller, maybe my problems relate to this.<br>My
last report to this list was of thanks to those of you who offered
help. I had sound for mouth, playing cd's and headphones and mike
worked, but no midi. I was able to complete one skype-out call and now
nothing - seems as though KDE takes control, /dev/dsp in use by another
process, and amarok returns the message 'The file or folder /Full CD
does not exist' but indicates that the sound is being played.<br><br>It's too bloody complicated for me!<br><br>MAybe
I should buy a sound card (with hardware synth to avoid further
difficulty when I finally get consistent sound and have to move on to
