All the reasons we were expecting. My point was that PLUG and similar
groups of computer people are the only areas you can get away with a
*seeming* contradiction of "it rocks - wanna buy it?" without being
forced to explain all that - which is what I somehow managed to do
anyway! :-P

All extremely logical and understandable reasons, naturally, and I
doubt anyone expected otherwise.
Mine was more of a comment in general on the impression you need to
make to people who don't get the technology cycle and how fast it moves.
I have an XDA2 (smart phone, like a mobile phone crammed into an
iPaq), that will do most of what your after.. Not sure about mac
integration but getting it to sync with Linux is an interesting bit of
fun. (ie not for the feint of heart)
Incidentally I'm trying to sell it at the moment (along with a brand
new never installed car hands free/docking kit) if anyone is
interested..
Only from one computer geek to another could you get away with the
contradiction that we so often see when buying or selling second hand
computer gear...
"It's really great.... but it's hardly been used!"
"I can highly recommend this one..... buy the way, I'm selling mine!"
"It also has a really great hands free kit... I've never installed it."
No offence / harm intended, Senectus, as I have found myself saying these
kind of things on more than one occasion.
With most people who are buying second hand electronics (and cars), unless
you are leaving the country / getting married / selling regretfully / have
just bought the latest model that is out of their price range, they would
assume that if you don't want it it's no good to them! ;)
When it comes to the rapidly changing market of handheld technology it is
not hard to understand that you may be ready for the next model before
you've fully used the existing one - that's computing and the continuous
upgrade path we take.

Although this is getting off topic and we all know how grumpy I get at that :-P
I'm not actually saying any of the above..
I use it every day and constantly (in fact the email I sent about
bringing the ubuntu CD's in was done from it while on the bus).
The car kit I bought with the intention to install in my 180sx only to
find that it wouldn't fit on any of the dashboard as they are not
large cars.. and I refuse to drill holes in my new Prius dashboard
yet.. :-P
It's been perfectly reliable and is still in perfect working order,
and the only reason it wish to sell it is because I'm a bit of a toy
geek and like (and with a bit of fudging can afford) the newer gear.
Plus the Palm syncs to Linux a bit easier (so I'm told) and it's a
little bit smaller than the XDA2.
I'm also considering getting something in the 3G range of devices as
the cheaper/faster web access is very very attractive to me.
