I can't directly answer that, but know that Daniel hit nail on the head.

I had the same problem with my version of OO.o (2.0.x). I checked and

rechecked that all settings were correct and the "check spelling while

you type" box was ticked, etc, etc. Then one day I saw that even though

I could have the Aussie English as my system-wide option it couldn't

find any dictionary ... so no spell checking. Changing to UK English

(which I installed with my distro) fixed the problem instantly. You can

use your package manager to get the different dictionaries, I think.</pre>

Yes that is right. You have to actually have it activated for it to

work. To do this you have to go through FILE WIZARDS and jump through

the hoops.<br>
