Apologies for the late notice on this month's seminar - we have our<br>
Vice-President Adon talking about geographic information systems, or<br>
systems for processing or storing geographic data. Applications based<br>
on these systems like Google Maps and OpenStreetmap are becoming<br>
increasingly popular, so it should be an interesting talk.<br>

Title: "Open source GIS"<br>
When: Tuesday, 14th July 2009, 7:30pm - 9:00pm.<br>
Where: 'Futuresphere', Christ Church Grammar School, Queenslea Drive, Claremont<br>
Presenter: Adon Metcalfe<br>
<br>
Adon will be presenting a talk on the opensource GIS stack, including<br>
a live demo of GeoServer and OpenLayers with their capabilities,<br>
specifically focused on the OpenGIS Consortium (OGC) standards for<br>
marshaling GIS data. If time permits, Adon may also briefly cover the<br>
software stack powering the OpenStreetmap project.<br>
<br>
We will be ordering pizza for consumption when the talk is over, and<br>
possibly adjourning to a nearby pub for general discussion and drinks<br>
after the presentation. A gold-coin donation is requested to cover the<br>
costs of the pizza.<br>

As usual, visitors and friends are most welcome.<br>
