After repartitioning an external 1TB WD green drive with Linux, I got incredibly slow write times in Linux.<br>I think the USB interface faked it as 512B sectors (for compatibility with older versions of windows?), though the drive was really 4K.<br>
Repartitoned  starting on multiples of 8 fake 512B sectors and all OK.<br><br><br>
